According to the daily report of China’s National Health Commission, there have been 80,904 confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and 58,807 recoveries (72.7%) as of March 9. There have been 3123 deaths reported (3.9%). Overall, there are 111,478 cases reported in the world. Outside of China, there are 30,574 cases in 107 countries.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has assessed the risk since February 29 to be very high not only in China, but also at regional and global levels.
The interdepartmental commission coordinating measures aimed at preventing the spread of the coronavirus in Armenia conducts daily discussions on the fight against the infection and offers sectoral recommendations if problems arise while ensuring their implementation.
- As of March 9, 2020, there have been 211 tests conducted with only 1 positive result.
- Enhanced control at the state border crossing points remains continuous. Currently, 14-day medical surveillance is carried out on passengers arriving from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Italy, China, Japan, South Korea, regardless of citizenship (France, Germany and Spain will be added to the list).
- According to the Government decree restricting Iran-Armenia border crossings, all trucks coming from the Meghri checkpoint have been escorted by the police and are regularly monitored by the specialists of the Ministry of Health. 857 drivers (228 of whom are citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran) were monitored throughout Armenia, including the State Revenue Committee’s customs warehouses prior to their return, whereas the drivers that are citizens of Armenia are monitored by area of residence.
- World Health Organization regional experts arrived in Yerevan to carry out assessments of hospital preparedness and laboratory research in the field of coronavirus disease.
